Flea market of ideas: Upgrading Potsdamer Platz together

On Tuesday, 2 September 2025, the Brandenburgisches Viertel neighbourhood management team invites you to a special day of action on Potsdamer Platz: a flea market from 2 pm to 6 pm will provide a lively setting for an open, hands-on event where initial ideas for the possible upgrading of the square can be presented, discussed and tried out directly on site.

The event is the preliminary culmination of a comprehensive participation process for the qualification of Potsdamer Platz. Since the spring, the neighbourhood management project team at S.T.E.R.N. GmbH has been developing a concept for a more attractive and diverse use of this central location in the Brandenburg district. The aim is to design the square in such a way that it becomes equally inviting and functional for residents, workers and visitors.

In recent months, citizens have already had the opportunity to contribute their ideas and wishes via a two-phase online survey (in April and July 2025), which was accessible via the city of Eberswalde's website. At the same time, street interviews were conducted with passers-by, current usage was observed and discussions were held with experts and residents.

All of these contributions are now being incorporated into the development of an upgrading concept. The project team is also looking at successful examples from other cities to gather inspiration for future design.

The flea market with hands-on activities on 2 September 2025 now offers the opportunity to talk to each other in a relaxed atmosphere, test new ideas and find out about the status of the project. All interested parties are cordially invited to drop by, join in and perhaps even take home a find or two.
