Opening on 12 December 2025 at the Kleine Galerie Eberswalde
The town of Eberswalde cordially invites you to the opening of the 321st exhibition at the Kleine Galerie in the SparkassenForum. Under the title ‘Affenhaus’ (Monkey House), sculptor Jörg Engelhardt presents a selection of sculptural works and linocuts that explore the mythological, cultural and formal significance of the monkey motif. The exhibition will be on display from 12 December 2025 to 12 February 2026.
The vernissage will take place on Friday, 12 December 2025, from 6 p.m. in the premises of the Kleine Galerie. Author and journalist Reinhard Giebner will give the laudatory speech, and Martin Crave will provide the musical accompaniment.
In his works, Engelhardt combines art-historical references with a free, playful formal language. He says of his artistic approach:
"MONKEYS play an important mythological role in many cultures. In Egypt, baboons were revered as sacred animals, and in India, the monkey god Hanuman is still worshipped today as a symbol of strength and devotion. For me personally, however, monkeys are above all a creative playground – a realm in which I can freely let off steam, experiment and transform my ideas into form, structure and expression."
