The City of Eberswalde's social guide is a reference work to help you find the right organisations and authorities to answer your questions about social issues. Four areas are outlined here:

  1. Living, living and working
  2. Care, education and family
  3. Migration
  4. Health, disability and illness.
Zwei Kinder auf einem Klettergerüst, sie schauen in die Kamera und lächeln.

We will start by publishing the first chapter "Living, housing and working". The other chapters will be added and incorporated gradually. The social guide does not claim to be complete. The City of Eberswalde endeavours to keep the guide up to date and is grateful for advice and corrections from experts. Once it has been finalised, the Eberswalde Social Guide will also be available as a print version.

Seniors' Advisory Council

Mayor says thank you

Many senior citizens in Eberswalde work on a voluntary basis. In order to honour this extraordinary and not self-evident commitment, the mayor honours particularly active people in an official ceremony every year. The volunteers are either nominated by friends or relatives, but can also contact the town hall themselves. If you know someone who should receive such an award, please contact

Tabea Westphal-Radisch, Department of Social Participation, Family and Integration

Care on site

The Brandenburg state government's "Local Care" programme gives local authorities and municipalities the opportunity to apply for funding for projects for people with care needs and/or disabilities. The aim of this programme is to enable people with disabilities to participate in social life and remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Offers are also created for family carers in order to advise, relieve and support them.

The city of Eberswalde is currently supporting four facilities with the help of this funding programme:

The Akademie 2. Lebenshälfte is participating with an offer for senior citizens on the topic of "Digital support measures" and "Advice on using smart media in the home". More info here.

The Hoffnungstaler Foundation Lobetal the "Aufwind" meeting centre offers various meeting formats such as the storytelling café, games afternoons and information evenings on various topics relating to care and prevention.

The Contact Eberswalde e.V. has opened the "Silberwald" meeting place in the Brandenburg district to offer residents of the neighbourhood activities such as sports, German, painting and cooking classes.

The Eberswalde City Library organises activities for senior citizens. Most recently, there was a games day for people with care needs.

The "Local Care" programme is funded until 30.06.2027.

The Social Round Table is an association of various social organisations in Eberswalde. At the meetings, which take place around four times a year, the current situations of the respective organisations and the resulting need for action are discussed and considered. The city administration assumes the role of moderator, makes the room available and forwards the content to the head of the department in order to initiate concrete measures to implement the needs if necessary. One example of this is the "Social services" flyer, which was published for the first time in 2022 and lists the most important points of contact for social issues. Interested organisations are welcome to join the round table.

The BIWAQ project "Growing Together" is a project funded by the European Social Fund that aims to show (long-term) unemployed people in the Brandenburg neighbourhood new perspectives for structuring their everyday lives and reorienting themselves professionally. This is achieved, for example, through the joint planning and construction of a wooden pavilion in the neighbourhood, which can be used by all residents as a meeting point, picnic area or place to spend time. In addition, workshops and personalised individual coaching sessions will be offered to participants to help them reorient themselves. There are also plans to train conflict mediators and provide training in the responsible use of digital media.

If you have any questions or are interested in participating in the project, please do not hesitate to contact the staff at Büro Blau or the city administration.

With the reform of Book VIII of the German Social Code, the topic of complaints in daycare centres has also become a focus of the responsibilities of childcare providers. This means that parents or guardians in particular, but also the children themselves and third parties involved, should have the opportunity to lodge a complaint both inside and outside the centre.

However, sometimes concerns cannot be clarified with the responsible people in the daycare centre itself. Then independent contact persons are needed to listen, sort and support: The City of Eberswalde's external daycare centre complaints office can be contacted if a complaint cannot be resolved within the daycare centre or with the daycare centre administration. It works confidentially, in a structured and responsible manner, always with the child in mind.

You want to address something:

The external daycare centre complaints office of the city of Eberswalde is there for you when it comes to concerns, experiences or observations about the care of your child in the daycare centre: Give us a call or write to us! It is of course also possible to contact us anonymously by e-mail via kita-beschwerdestelle@eberswalde.de or by telephone via the extension 03334-64772.
