It takes courage to step onto a stage, to sing or dance, to mould an animal out of clay or to paint a really big piece of graffiti, to recite a poem at a poetry slam, to come to terms with your own story, to devise a computer game, or to stage a performance or a play.

We could go on at length here about how engaging with the aesthetic arts and cultural education – including theatre and drama, dance, visual arts, music, literature, museums, film and photography – helps you experience a sense of self-efficacy and boosts your creativity. That this is part of general education and is important for an understanding of democracy and the development of social and emotional skills in children and young people.
