Why World Cleanup Day?
Let’s work together to ensure Eberswalde remains a clean and liveable place. With every bottle, piece of paper and bag we collect, we’re making a valuable contribution to our environment.
We’ll be collecting rubbish together at 6 locations. We’re calling on all residents, schools, nurseries and clubs to join us in taking action.
Give our natural environment a little of your time and clear forests, parks, footpaths and roadsides of litter to make our beautiful natural surroundings worth experiencing again!
The rubbish will then be collected by the Eberswalde municipal works department and disposed of properly.
Safety first!
Please bring your own personal protective equipment, including gloves and sturdy footwear. We’ll collect rubbish in bin bags at designated collection points. We will report bulky waste using the BDG waste app. The rubbish bags will then be collected from 1 pm by the Eberswalde municipal depot.
Collecting rubbish isn’t actually a dangerous task. For your own safety, we ask all participants to bear the following in mind:
· Wear sturdy footwear
· If you have them, bring work gloves and wear them during the clean-up
· Dress appropriately for the weather and remember to use sun protection if necessary
· Parents are asked to supervise their own children. The organisers are unable to do so.
· Participation is voluntary and at your own risk.
· Avoid anything that does not seem safe to you and contact the organisers if necessary.
Locations
As early as 18 September, one day before World Cleanup Day, our major litter-clearing campaign ‘Sauberswalde’ will take place in the Brandenburg Quarter. We too want to send a message about environmental awareness and a clean living environment!
Numerous enthusiastic children from primary schools and nurseries will be out and about in the neighbouring woods and throughout the neighbourhood to collect litter – supported by their teaching staff.
Local residents and anyone else interested are also warmly invited to take the initiative and join the effort to clear litter from pavements, parks and public spaces. Every little helps! The litter will then be collected at the meeting point.

All the rubbish collected can be dropped off at the central collection point there. The ‘Lernengel’ will be on hand to provide some fun and educational activities with little games and activities centred around the environment.

On the initiative of the trainees at Sparkasse Barnim, fruit trees are to be planted in Finow as part of the ‘Azubifiliale Finow’ project, in cooperation with the Finow District Association (Stadtteilverein Finow e.V.), the town of Eberswalde and Alnus e.V.
A mixed orchard meadow in the municipal woodland behind Siedlerweg will be used for this purpose. Access is via a footpath behind the house at Siedlerweg 12 or from the main road, 200 metres past the ‘Out of Town’ sign on the right.
We plan to prepare the site for the tree-planting on 19 September 2026 from 10.00 am by clearing it of scrub and rubbish.
The trainees from Sparkasse Barnim, the Finow Neighbourhood Association and Alnus e.V. warmly invite you to help make this public orchard in Finow accessible to everyone.
Please bring gloves and sturdy footwear. Lunch will be provided on the day.

In the Leibniz Quarter, also known as the ‘Keks’ Quarter, it’s not just crumbs lying about, unfortunately. To make the area along the Finow Canal and around the new medical centre, OSZ II and the blocks of flats a bit more appealing again, the ‘Unser Finowkanal’ association is organising a litter-picking event as part of the ‘Sauberswalde’ initiative!
We’ll meet on 21 March 2026 at 10.00 am at the jetty on the Stadtpromenade, kitting ourselves out with bin bags, gloves, litter pickers (please bring along whatever you already have!) and plenty of good cheer. Then we’ll head out into the area.

Unfortunately, there is also quite a bit of litter in Nordend, particularly along the paths. To make our Nordend nice and clean again, we, Eberswalder SV “Empor” e.V., are calling for active participation in World Cleanup Day 2026.
Drinks will be provided for everyone who lends a hand.

The Ostend Eberswalde neighbourhood initiative and Kreiswerke Barnim are jointly organising an event for World Cleanup Day 2026. Participants will meet at 10 am at six different locations with the aim of depositing the collected rubbish at the bus turning point on Saarstraße. The meeting points are:
1. Ostender Höhen – opposite KAFI
2. Am Rohrpfuhl, on the corner of Freienwalder Straße
3. Tornower Straße – Spielhaus nursery
4. Schellengrund, on the corner of Eichwerderstraße
5. Bergeshöh, on the corner of Kleine Hufen
6. Ostender Höhen – car park at Kreiswerke Barnim (landfill site)
Afterwards, there will be a pot-luck picnic at the Pfingstkapelle at 55 Saarstraße. Kreiswerke Barnim will also be organising some fun games on the theme of waste sorting.
