Invitation to a silent commemoration on 27 January 2026

In Eberswalde, the victims of National Socialism, in particular the victims of the Holocaust, will be remembered on Tuesday, 27 January 2026. A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the invitation of Mayor Götz Herrmann. This year, for the first time, at the memorial to the victims of tyranny on Eberswalder Straße in the Finow district.
On the initiative of the then Federal President Roman Herzog, the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz extermination camp was declared an official German day of remembrance for the victims of National Socialism in 1996. Since then, wreaths have been laid on 27 January to commemorate the past and the many dead. Silent remembrance has also been called for in Eberswalde for many years.
