„Internationaler Tag zur Beseitigung von Gewalt an Frauen“ in Eberswalde

On the initiative of the Barnim Women's Network, a pink bench was set up on the campus of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) and a banner with the slogan ‘We say NO’ was hoisted.

On 25 November 2025, numerous representatives from politics, associations and universities in Eberswalde sent a strong signal against violence against women. The aim was to promote greater equality and respect and not to trivialise violence against women.

Among those present were the Barnim district's equal opportunities officer, Dr Sylvia Setzkorn, the university president, Prof. Dr Mattias Barth, the coordinator of the Barnim Women's Network, Dunja Schwarz-Fink, as well as district administrator Daniel Kurth and mayor Götz Herrmann.

At the same time, the Barnim Women's Network opened the day with the ‘clothesline’ campaign on Kirchhang to draw attention to violence against women. In addition, the exhibition ‘Together Against Sexism’ will be on display at Eberswalde Town Hall until 10 December 2025, providing information about the various facets of sexism.

The pink bench, which was built by Lebenshilfe Barnim, is reminiscent of the Italian project ‘La Panchina Rossa’ and will be installed at various locations throughout the city in the future to draw attention to the experiences of violence suffered by women and girls.

In cases of violence, those affected can contact the nationwide helpline (0800-116016), which is available around the clo
