Christmas market in the Brandenburgischen Viertel 2025

As in previous years, the Christmas market in the Brandenburgischen Viertel on Potsdamer Platz took place again this year. On the third Sunday in Advent, numerous organisations, initiatives and associations from the district invited visitors to enjoy music, hot drinks, culinary delights and many other activities and offers.

In addition to a wide range of food and drinks, visitors were treated to an atmospheric entertainment programme with contemplative Christmas music and a lovely carousel for the younger guests. Numerous people from the neighbourhood, including many families with children as well as older residents, visited the stalls and the stage programme and made the Christmas market a special experience.

As every year, we would like to thank everyone who made the Christmas market such a wonderful and successful event. We are delighted with the large turnout and that so many people found their way to us. Our special thanks go to all those who enriched the market with their great offers or actively supported us in setting up and dismantling, including the Family Garden, the Club am Wald and the city's federal volunteers.

Palanca e.V., the Welcome Centre, the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Haus, Büro BLAU, Stiftung SPI, the MAD's self-help group, the Wiese bakery, Kontakt e.V., the Silberwald meeting place, the STINO youth club and Muggels Stübchen provided refreshments. Other activities and stalls were organised by Kontakt e.V., the AWO, Ms Bognar, the Verkehrsgarten, Buckow e.V., Mr Mellaihia, the City of Eberswalde, the Kanaltheater, the Raumplanern and flea market stalls set up by committed residents of the neighbourhood.

We would like to thank Uwe Kolberg, the Westend Gospel Singers, the band "Institut des ländlichen Frohsinns" and the mayor for the varied stage and entertainment programme. Special thanks also go to Chris Co's, who provided the professional stage, sound and lighting technology. Last but not least, we would like to thank the police and the paramedics for their support and presence, SV Motor for providing their sanitary facilities and Galerie Fenster for their accompanying programme.

Finally, we would like to wish everyone who celebrates Christmas a happy and peaceful festive season. We wish everyone else a relaxing holiday and a good start to a healthy and successful New Year.

Traditional Christmas market in the Brandenburgischen Viertel on the 3rd Advent

On Sunday, 14 December 2025, from 2 pm to 6 pm, the Brandenburgisches Viertel neighbourhood management invites you to a Christmas market and atmospheric get-together on Potsdamer Platz. Visitors can expect a varied programme. The carousel will be doing its rounds, while creative craft activities invite visitors to make their own small gifts and decorations. A colourful programme provides variety on the stage; the musical highlight is a gospel choir, followed later by singer-songwriter Uwe Kolberg performing popular Christmas songs. Traditionally, the afternoon is opened with the cutting of stollen, which sets the mood for the festive season. Food and drink are well catered for. Numerous stalls from local organisations and associations offer culinary delights - from savoury to sweet - and invite you to try and linger. Together we would like to experience a special Advent Sunday and look forward to your visit.

At the same time, Galerie Fenster will also be opening its doors and inviting visitors to view the current exhibition. Come by, discover the diversity of the Brandenburgischen Viertel and celebrate with us on the 3rd Sunday in Advent a contemplative neighbourhood festival for all generations!

Graffiti on the SV-Motor gymnasium completed

The new façade design of the "Schwärzesee" sports hall of SV Motor e. V. has been completed. Graffiti artist "Beatsen" designed two sides of the hall.

The entrance page was created together with many young people in several workshops and, among other things, takes up the sports programmes offered by the club. The club offers floorball, weightlifting, inline skating, guard dancing, badminton, chess, bowling and table tennis - some of these disciplines can be seen on the newly designed wall. The young people involved had great fun working on the design and learnt the basics of professional and responsible spraying with graffiti paint.

The gable end facing Potsdamer Platz reflects the Brandenburg Quarter with colours, symbols and motifs. As part of the public space, the façade facing the square is an important eye-catcher for the neighbourhood and its residents. The new graffiti thus contributes to enhancing the cityscape.

A small inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, at 12:00 noon. Together with the artists, SV Motor e.V., members of the speaker's council, the urban development office and the neighbourhood management, the new graffiti could be inspected on site.

The project was funded by the "Social Cohesion" programme.
Many thanks to all participants and supporters!

A look back: Sauberswalde campaign in the Brandenburgischen Viertel

On 19 September 2025, one day before the city of Eberswalde's official Clean-up Day, the Brandenburg Quarter became a little cleaner again - with our "Sauberswalde" litter collection campaign.

This time, 15 children from Noah's Ark daycare centre were keen to get involved. Together, they diligently collected 3 bags of rubbish in the neighbouring forest and in the residential area. Supported by their teachers, the youngsters impressively demonstrated the importance of environmental awareness from an early age.

After the collection campaign, all participants met at the Club am Wald. A special highlight awaited them there: the Stadtfüchse organised a creative and playful environmental education activity, which was met with enthusiasm by the children and was also well received by the adults.

The day ended with a cosy barbecue - a great end to a successful event in which commitment, fun and a sense of community went hand in hand.

A big thank you to all the helpers, young and old, who took part - for a clean, liveable neighbourhood!

Inauguration of the new picnic area in the Brandenburg neighbourhood

The official opening of the newly designed picnic area in Barnim Park was a complete success: numerous residents, supporters of the Brandenburg Quarter and city councillors accepted the invitation from the city of Eberswalde on 24 September and came together in the late summer weather to get to know the new meeting place and celebrate together.

The pavilion with its lovingly planted raised beds, seating and colourful details was met with great joy and interest. The high number of visitors and the consistently positive response are proof of this: The new picnic area has struck a chord and is already being accepted as a place to meet, relax and socialise.

The "Growing together!" project, implemented by the city of Eberswalde in cooperation with BÜRO BLAU, has made an important contribution to upgrading the public space in the neighbourhood with the construction of the square. The collaborative construction process was particularly impressive: the participants in the project - mainly long-term unemployed people - planned and built the entire facility themselves with great dedication.

"We are delighted with the great response and the lively use of the square. It's great to see how commitment, creativity and community are paying off," said Sarah Schmidt at the opening.

The "Growing Together!" project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction, the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) and urban development funds as part of the federal BIWAQ programme. It combines practical work with professional orientation and creates real added value - for the participants as well as for the entire neighbourhood.

Brandenburg neighbourhood takes 3rd place in the "Nature Park Project 2025" competition

The Brandenburg Quarter in Eberswalde was honoured as part of this year's competition "Nature Park Project 2025" with the 3. Place was honoured. The award ceremony took place on 6 September 2025 at the StadtGut Blankenfelde in Berlin/Pankow as part of the nature park festival.

With its broad spectrum of environmental and neighbourhood projects, the neighbourhood management convinced the jury of the Barnim Nature Park. Since 2021, the neighbourhood has been home to a variety of initiatives that combine nature experiences, community and education: from flower meadows and intergenerational planting campaigns to a successful beekeeping project, raised beds, lavender fields and a small stage for nature and cultural events.

A particular focus is on environmental education and sustainable design. Numerous organisations such as daycare centres, schools, senior citizens' groups and local associations work closely together.

The jury particularly recognised the long-term, community-led development in the district, which combines ecological responsibility and social cohesion in an exemplary manner.

The neighbourhood management team would like to thank all those involved, committed individuals and partners for their active support. The third place is an incentive to continue working together for a green and lively neighbourhood in the future.

Review Fête de la Quartier 2025

On 13 September, it was that time again: the Fête de la Viertel created a great atmosphere in the Brandenburgisches Viertel. The guests were warmly welcomed at the opening ceremony by the neighbourhood management team. The mayor also came as a guest of honour to address everyone. Special thanks went to all the supporters and players who made this fantastic event possible.

On and around Potsdamer Platz, numerous stands with culinary delights, refreshing drinks and a variety of sports and craft activities invited visitors to enjoy the afternoon. A special highlight this year was a photo box in which personal memories of the day could be created. This delighted both young and older guests. They could also get creative at the graffiti workshop, ride on stuffed ponies in a riding arena or discover the obstacle course hidden among the trees behind Potsdamer Platz, opposite the after-school centre.

The soap bubble artist Pippifax Seifenblasen attracted the attention of all visitors with her colourful bubbles, which rose into the sky and created a special atmosphere. If you wanted to find out more about the diversity of the neighbourhood, you could visit the stands of active associations and initiatives to find out about projects and offers in the Brandenburgisches Viertel.

The whole afternoon until the early evening hours was characterised by a varied stage programme. Thanks to the great organisation by "Künstler mit Herz", ChrissCo's event service and presenter Marko Krause, there was a large stage on which acts from the pirate Störtebüker (Bernward Büker) with a show, singers Kristoffer Baumann with Mozaik, Fabrice Richter-Reichhelm, singer-songwriter Tabea Hassan and young rapper Theo GM provided great entertainment.

A big thank you goes to all participants, the DRK paramedics and photographer Mr Stapel for their valuable support. Together, we created an unforgettable day for the residents of the neighbourhood. Special thanks also go to all the other committed local players and institutions who generously supported the Fête de la Viertel: Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Haus, Eltern-Kind-Zentrum, Wohnverbund, the associations Kontakt e.V. with the Silberwald project, Palanca e.V., SV Eberswalde Motor e.V., büro BLAU with the BIWAQ project, the family alliance, the SPI Foundation, KATI Hausbrauerei Eberswalde GmbH, the Hebewerk, the Welcome Centre, Muggels Stübchen, the Stino youth club, Verkehrsgarten, the Smilla Vanilla ice cream factory, the Barnimer Bürgerpost, the youth coordination of the city of Eberswalde and the beekeeping project from the Brandenburgisches Viertel.

Without this energetic help, this festival would not have been possible. We look forward to another great event next year!

Qualification Potsdamer Platz - Review and outlook

The neighbourhood management project team at S.T.E.R.N GmbH is currently developing a concept for the possible upgrading of Potsdamer Platz. The aim is to make this central location in the Brandenburg neighbourhood more beautiful, more pleasant and more usable for everyone - for people who live, work or simply pass by here.

Over the past few weeks, many residents have been able to take part in the planning process. An online survey in two phases - from 1 to 30 April and from 16 to 6 July 2025 - was advertised on the neighbourhood management website and was accessible via the Eberswalde city website. Interested parties were able to submit their ideas and wishes for the use and possible upgrading of the square. At the same time, the project team conducted short street interviews with passers-by, observed the current use of the square and spoke to experts and neighbours in order to gain further valuable perspectives.

Once this initial analysis phase has been completed, the concept is now being developed. All previous results from the various survey and analysis formats will be incorporated. In addition, research will be carried out into how other cities have successfully redesigned comparable squares in order to learn from good examples.

A special highlight will be the hands-on event on Potsdamer Platz on 2 September 2025. Together with the flea market, which will take place from 14:00 to 18:00, initial ideas can be tried out and discussed directly on site. All interested parties are cordially invited to come along, get involved and contribute their ideas.

Photo exhibition in the community centre: "Impressions from 20 years of development"

The exhibition attracted numerous visitors back in May of this year as part of the Urban Development Day. The images on display vividly document the development of the community centre and the surrounding Brandenburg Quarter - from its beginnings to the present day. Current perspectives of people from the neighbourhood are also part of the exhibition, as residents and daycare children took part in creating the pictures for the exhibition.

Review: World record achieved - rollator chain on Potsdamer Platz in Eberswalde!

On Thursday, 19 June 2025, Potsdamer Platz in Eberswalde was full of movement, good humour and lively community! 59 people with walking frames or other mobility aids set a new world record together.

A number of stakeholders and organisations took part and created a colourful, lively atmosphere with their offerings. Potsdamer Platz thus became a place of encounters, exchange and shared experiences. The QM offered screen printing: Green fabric bags were screen-printed on site with a suitable motif - a diverse human chain. The bags were distributed free of charge to all participants and were very popular!

The QM team is delighted that Potsdamer Platz was able to host this special event.

Looking back: Bright day with culture

On 21 June 2025, what belongs together came together. Good morning Eberswalde + Bright hour with culture = Bright day with culture! Potsdamer Platz in the Brandenburg neighbourhood was transformed into a lively stage for culture, encounters and creativity. The 937th edition of Guten Morgen Eberswalde ran from 10:30 to 15:00. Visitors of all generations were able to experience a diverse musical, acrobatic, artistic, theatrical and enchanting programme.

The "Bright Day with Culture", organised by Udo Muszynski Concerts and Events, as the 5th anniversary edition of the well-known "Bright Hour" event series, offered numerous opportunities for exchange and amazement on Potsdamer Platz. Whether it was a cosy get-together or enjoying artistic and culinary performances together, the day impressively demonstrated the creative potential of the neighbourhood.

Many guests took the opportunity to get to know the Brandenburg Quarter from a completely new perspective.

Project "Growing together!"

A new place to linger, meet and exchange ideas in the middle of the neighbourhood: the first raised beds have been installed in the planned picnic area in Barnim Park. The participants in the "Growing together!" project have put their heart and soul into the project. The result is impressive!

Over the winter months, the participants worked together to develop a design concept for the raised beds. Thanks to the support of Hebewerk e.V., the first raised beds were built in the organisation's well-equipped wood workshop. Almost all of them are now on site in Barnim Park and will be gradually filled and planted over the summer.

The pavilion on the picnic area is intended to provide protection from the sun or rain when in use. It will be framed by the flowerbeds, so that when completed it will radiate a cosy atmosphere without restricting the view across the square or to the nearby play areas. In future, rainwater will be collected to water the beds and collected in cisterns directly next to the pavilion. When selecting the future planting, the participants will focus on native and beneficial plants. Two smaller beds will be planted with berries and herbs and will later be used for snacking and learning about the different plant species. Over the coming months, the picnic area will be transformed into a green oasis of well-being. A small team from the neighbourhood will take care of the beds.

We cordially invite you to the press event to experience the picnic area in the making:

Date: Wednesday, 25 June 2025

Time: 09 - 10 o'clock

Location: Barnim Park, Brandenburg Quarter Eberswalde

Beyond the construction site in Barnim Park, the project offers "Growing together!" Support with professional orientation and (re-)entry into the labour market. The project is funded as part of the programme "Education, business, work in the neighbourhood - BIWAQ" by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building and the European Union via the European Social Fund (ESF Plus).
We look forward to seeing you there!

Volunteer Day: Volunteering in Eberswalde - Together for our city

24 May 2025 was Volunteer Day in Eberswalde - and we were there!

The day was opened at 10 a.m. sharp by Ms Böttger, Mr Jahns (Barnim Uckermark Community Foundation), Ms Schmidt (Volunteer Agency) and Mr Schlüter (Eberswalde's Head of Social Affairs, Order and Culture). The paint rollers were wielded with great enthusiasm together with volunteers from the surrounding area. In Barnim Park in the Brandenburg Quarter, the previously grey seating stones were given a "colourless" makeover. To everyone's delight, the colours of the city of Eberswalde were requested and chosen. Of course, the "Ewald" colour, which we applied with stencils, was not to be missed.

Between rolls and colours, there was also plenty to eat and drink. Over a cup of coffee or tea and sandwiches, we chatted, laughed and exchanged ideas. It didn't feel like work at all when we were together. At the end of the day, another wonderful place was created in our neighbourhood that invites everyone to linger.

A big thank you to all the lovely people who took part - and to all those who volunteer day after day. You make Eberswalde more liveable and lovable!

Review of the open day at the community centre in the Brandenburgisches Viertel

What a wonderful day! On Friday, 9 May 2025, people celebrated, laughed, made music and talked to each other in and around the community centre in Schorfheidestraße. All in beautiful weather and an exuberant atmosphere. The occasion was the 20th anniversary of the community centre in the Brandenburgisches Viertel, in which numerous stakeholders, institutions, initiatives and residents took part.

A colourful and varied programme was offered between 11 am and 5 pm: Information stands, sporting activities, a photo exhibition, creative hands-on activities, culinary highlights, as well as music and stage performances. The community centre and the nursery grounds presented themselves from their best side and invited the many visitors to explore, linger and join in. In terms of variety and atmosphere, it was probably the biggest and liveliest festival in the neighbourhood this year - alongside the upcoming Fête de la Viertel. It was particularly nice to experience how much commitment, passion and joie de vivre there is in our neighbourhood.

A very special highlight was the ride on a crane at a height of up to 35 metres - with a breathtaking view over the roofs of the Brandenburg Quarter.

A big thank you goes to all those involved - to the contributors at the stands and activities, to the artists, to the helping hands in front of and behind the scenes and to all the visitors who contributed to the successful atmosphere with their openness and good humour.

This anniversary celebration has once again shown how much community spirit and cohesion there is in our neighbourhood - and that makes us want more.

Street art project - design of the gable wall and entrance area of the "Schwärzesee" sports hall of SV Motor Eberswalde e.V. in the Brandenburg neighbourhood

As part of a street art project, the gable wall of the "Schwärzesee" sports hall of SV Motor Eberswalde e.V. in the direction of Potsdamer Allee and the wall at the entrance area of the hall are to be redesigned.

Where: Potsdamer Allee 37, 16227 Eberswalde

Tel: 03334 212703

Fax: 03334 4297123

Motivated, creative and interested graffiti/street art artists who are also willing to work with children and young people in a participatory format are being sought to realise this project. The following project components are to be realised:

- Preparation of the facades of the aforementioned sports hall in order to be able to implement long-lasting graffiti that enhances the hall and the immediate surroundings.

- Design of the gable wall with an own artistic work, in coordination with the owner, the neighbourhood management, representatives of the administration and the spokespersons' council of the Brandenburgisches Viertel.

- Design of the side area of the hall with the participation of children and young people, which will be realised in the form of graffiti workshops. The exact size of the group needs to be clarified. Children and young people from the Brandenburg neighbourhood are the main target group.

The façade on Potsdamer Allee (gable end) has an area of approx. 251 m². The side area with the entrance to the hall has an area of approx. 189 m².

The implementation period starts in June 2025 and ends in October 2025 at the latest. A coordination phase with the owner, the neighbourhood management and representatives of the administration on the graphics will take place in May/early June. If approved and selected, active implementation can start in June 2025, after the spokespersons' council meeting. The entire graffiti project should be completed by October 2025. For further information on the design ideas, framework conditions and required documents, please contact the neighbourhood management team

If you are interested, please send us the required documents until 30 April 2025 under quartiersmanagement@eberswalde.de to.

We look forward to your offer and your ideas!

Sauberswalde

One day before the city of Eberswalde's official spring clean, the "Sauberswalde" rubbish collection campaign took place in the Brandenburg neighbourhood. Many hard-working hands from the "Schwärzesee" primary school, the "Gestiefelter Kater" daycare centre and the "Arche Noah" daycare centre, together with the forest ranger Florian Manns and the BBV parent-child centre, unfortunately found plenty of rubbish in the nearby forest and throughout the district.

Some local residents also responded to the call. Together, pavements, parks and public spaces were cleared of rubbish. Afterwards, all those who helped gathered at the Club am Wald, where two environmental educators from Kreiswerke Barnim offered small games on the topic of waste separation. Everyone enjoyed a cosy end to the day in the sunshine and a shared lunch.

The event was a complete success and shows how important it is to take responsibility for the environment at an early age. A big thank you therefore goes to all the hard-working hands, big and small, and the organisations that supported this campaign.

Christmas market in the Brandenburg neighbourhood

Of course, the traditional stollen cutting by our mayor, Mr Götz Hermann, was also a must.

The laser show for the 20th anniversary brought a sparkle to everyone's eyes, but above all the sparkle in the children's eyes is and remains, as every year, the highlight of the pre-Christmas period.

Sauberswalde

On Saturday, 21 September 2024, it was time again: Sauberswalde took place as part of World Clean Up Day. We also tackled the Brandenburg neighbourhood together and ensured a clean environment. In bright sunshine, we collected everything that didn't belong in nature from 10 a.m. together with Büro Blau, the Stadtfüchse, the Berufsbildungsverein Eberswalde-Wohnverbund and many committed residents.

After the work was done, there was a well-deserved refreshment at the stand of Kontakt e.V. and the Welcome Centre Eberswalde. And for anyone who still had energy left, there was the opportunity to stroll around the flea market, visit the photo exhibition "The Brandenburg neighbourhood from your perspective" and vote or find out more about the exciting "Beekeeping in the neighbourhood" project.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped out on this day! Special thanks also go to the Wiese bakery for the delicious bread rolls!
