Eberswalde wins city centre competition 2025/2026
Award ceremony in the state capital Potsdam
The city of Eberswalde has won first place in the "Vibrant city centre - campaigns, events" category of the Brandenburg 2025/2026 city centre competition organised by the "Alliance for vibrant city centres". Out of over 80 submissions, the project"Beach & Boat - A festival on the city promenade". After winning in 2022, Eberswalde has once again come out on top.
Alexander Broschell, Head of the Office for Economic Development, emphasises: "The award shows that we are successfully keeping pace with cities such as Potsdam, Cottbus and Brandenburg an der Havel and have created an enrichment for our city centre with 'Beach & Boat'."
The prize, endowed with10.000 euros in prize moneywas presented by Uta Häusler (IHK Ostbrandenburg) and Wolfgang Kampmeier (Handelsverband Berlin-Brandenburg) in Potsdam on 6 May 2026.
"Beach & Boat" attracts numerous visitors to the city promenade and the Finow Canal every year and combines nature, water, culture and city life. This year, the festival will take place for the first time as atwo-day festival on 28 and 29 August 2026with a stage, regional gastronomy, offers for families, young people, water sports activities and recreational areas designed by youth clubs - a varied programme for all generations.
