Traffic restrictions due to the Waldstadt Festival from 05 June 2026

In the course of the Waldstadt Festival, extensive traffic restrictions are to be expected in the city centre from Friday, 05 June 2026 to Sunday, 07 June 2026.

Please note the following changes to traffic routing

From Friday, 05 June 2026

The Altstadtcarée (Kirchstraße, Steinstraße, Goethestraße and An der Friedensbrücke) will be fully closed from around 6 am.

Friedrich-Ebert-Straße between Goethestraße and Breite Straße will also be fully closed from around 3 pm.

In addition, parking will be prohibited on Goethestraße at the entrance to the district administration car park (outside the restricted zone) from 6 a.m. on Friday, 5 June 2026 until 10 a.m. on Sunday, 7 June 2026.

From Saturday, 06 June 2026

From around 5 a.m., further roads will be fully closed for the Waldstadt Festival

- Breite Straße (between Schweizer Straße and the Eisenbahnstraße/Bollwerkstraße junction)

- Friedrich-Ebert-Straße (between Breite Straße and Puschkinstraße)

- Goethestraße up to the entrance to the district administration car park

- Pfeilstraße from the level of the district administration car park

- Schicklerstraße to behind Kienwerder car park

- Michaelisstraße

- Östliche Brautstraße shortly before the Breite Straße junction

- Ratzeburgstraße

- Kirchstraße

- Salomon-Goldschmidt-Straße

- Kreuzstraße from Töpferstraße

- Erich-Schuppan-Straße

- Jüdenstraße shortly before the Breite Straße junction

A diversion route will be set up for Breite Straße via Bollwerkstraße, Marienstraße and Eichwerderstraße. The diversion will be signposted accordingly.

In addition, the speed limit will be reduced to 30 km/h in Eisenbahnstraße between the Eisenbahnstraße/Bollwerkstraße junction and Michaelisstraße.

All roads to be closed will be subject to an absolute ban on stopping from the start of the closures. This is signposted accordingly and must be observed.

The full road closures are expected to remain in place untilSunday, 07 June 2026, 10:00 amwill remain in place. The Altstadtcarée is excluded from this. Due to the dismantling of the city gate, the closure there is not expected to end untilMonday, 08 June 2026, around 14:00 hrscan be lifted.

All road users and residents are asked to observe the traffic restrictions and follow the signposted diversions.
