A beach for ‘Beach & Boat’: pop-up youth club opens on the city promenade

In the run-up to the ‘Beach & Boat’ festival on the city promenade on 28 and 29 August 2026 (seePress Release 141/2026), there are still a few weeks to go, but the festival site is already coming to life.

The pop-up youth club marks the start of the first phase of the programme centred around the newly created ‘Eberswalde City Beach’ and invites children, young people, families and anyone else interested to discover this new spot on the Finow Canal.

The pop-up youth club is expected to be open every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 pm to 7 pm until the end of August. During these times, staff from the City of Eberswalde will be on hand to supervise the activities and act as points of contact on site.

This free leisure programme offers plenty of opportunities to get active or simply enjoy the summer holidays by the water. The programme includes stand-up paddleboarding, beach volleyball, table tennis, Viking chess and other sports and games. Hammocks and deckchairs invite visitors to relax and linger.

“Young people need space! Both in public life and within the cityscape. The pop-up youth club, complete with a ‘beach’ on the city promenade, serves as an open meeting place even before the Beach & Boat festival, where young people in particular can find their place, whilst at the same time creating space for intergenerational encounters. In this way, we’re bringing the potential of the Finow Canal banks to life and getting everyone in the mood for the festival weekend at the end of August,” said Mayor Götz Herrmann.

The city beach can also be used outside supervised opening hours. Clubs, youth groups, initiatives and other interested parties have the opportunity to use the beach free of charge for their own activities. Following prior registration and a brief induction, the key to the toilet facilities and the small caravan will be issued. Those interested can register by emailemail hidden; JavaScript is requiredor by telephone on 03334 / 64 - 408.

The pop-up youth club is initially intended as a complementary activity running alongside the ‘Beach & Boat’ event. At the same time, the experience gained over the coming weeks will be used to assess whether, and in what form, a similar programme can be continued in future – even beyond the festival period – as part of the City of Eberswalde’s youth coordination programme.
