The 1st Brandenburg Wildlife Day at Eberswalde Zoo

Experience wildlife up close, learn interesting facts about nature and species conservation, and get actively involved. On Friday 28 August 2026, the 1st Brandenburg Wildlife Day will take place at Eberswalde Zoo. From 9 am to 7 pm, visitors can look forward to a varied programme for children, young people and adults. In collaboration with Cottbus Zoo and under the patronage of Hanka Mittelstädt, Minister for Agriculture and Food, Environment and Consumer Protection for the State of Brandenburg, the State Animal Welfare Officer for Brandenburg and the Brandenburg State Zoo Association (Landeszooverband Brandenburg e. V.) invite you to this special event at Eberswalde Zoo.

The focus will be on native wildlife and their habitats. At numerous information and hands-on stands, visitors will learn interesting facts about topics such as fawn rescue, insects, the beaver’s habitat, bats, native bird species, the wildcat and the wolf. Various activities encourage visitors to engage with issues of nature conservation and species protection and to get actively involved themselves.

There will be a special focus on school groups in the morning. From 9 am to 2 pm, pupils can go on a discovery tour through the zoo as part of a treasure hunt, learning more about wild animals, their habitats and how to protect them in a fun way. Visitors can look forward to special feeding sessions with the wild boars at 10 am, the fallow deer at 11 am and, to round off the day, the wolf at 3 pm.

At 2 pm, patron Hanka Mittelstädt will address representatives of the press and guests at the event with a video message.

Until 7 pm, visitors can explore further activities centred on local wildlife. The talks and workshops range from the world of bees and the conservation of the European squirrel to the lives of wolves in our region. Registration is required atemail hidden; JavaScript is required.

Wearing sturdy footwear, the day will conclude with an evening excursion to the ‘Nonnenfließ-Schwärzetal’ nature reserve. The meeting point is in front of the zoo ticket office at 7 pm.
