Registration, borrowing and other services

To register, you will need a valid form of identification. Please also complete ourregistration formand bring a printed, completed copy with you.

Registration is free of charge from the age of one (from 7 August 2026) up to and including the age of 17. Registration must be carried out by a parent or legal guardian.

Items can be borrowed immediately.

Monday and Friday 2 pm–6 pm
Tuesday and Thursday 10 am–6 pm
Saturday 10 am–2 pm

The loan period for media items can bebe extended online, in person or by telephone on 03334/64-420.

From the first day the loan period is exceeded,late payment fees of €1 per medium per weekwill be charged.
Forchildren and young people up to and including the age of 17, a late return fee of €0.25 per item per week.
As soon as a written reminder is required for the return of an item, additional reminder fees of €5 per week will be charged.

The ‘Picture Book Journey at the City Library’ reading series is designed to promote language and media skills among nursery children and to introduce them to the children’s library.
The programme is primarily aimed at nursery groups with pre-school children and usually takes place every Tuesday from 9.30 am.

Themed library introductions can be arranged for nursery groups, school classes and other groups. Everything from traditional storytime sessions to research training for school projects, right through to bespoke activities, can be arranged.

Educational institutions can borrow all kinds of media free of charge for an extended period. Please enquire about the cooperation agreement at the library. You can find the application formhere.

We offer the opportunity to hold a lesson on our premises; we can assist with subject-specific information resources and, where necessary, internet-connected computers including a printer. We can also host information sessions for parents or school classes; simply get in touch with us to arrange a suitable date.

At Eberswalde Municipal Library, we can provide a suitable venue and, if required, assist you – not only with the general selection of literature but also by acting as a member of the judging panel. Please get in touch with us to discuss dates and organisational details.

Using the Actionbound app, we offer guided tours with research training for school pupils.

At Eberswalde Municipal Library, you can borrow more than just books. Our collection is constantly being expanded to include useful everyday items. We also offer games and sports equipment, musical instruments, energy-saving devices and much more for you to borrow.

Anyone who has ever experienced this form of storytelling theatre will understand the magic that this medium exudes. Originally from Japan, Kamishibai has now found its place here too.
Kamishibai can be booked as an event or hired with a selection of stories.

People with visual impairments can access the services of the German Centre for Accessible Reading (dzb for short) free of chargelesen). Here, you can choose from over 60,000 items, including Braille books and sheet music in Braille, as well as audiobooks in DAISY format. The Eberswalde Municipal Library has a total of four computer stations with internet access and a connected printer/scanner. Use of these facilities is restricted to registered users.
Wi-Fi is freely available, even without registration.

We offer books and games that are specially suited to people with dementia. Please ask us for a selection.
