Waldstadt Families

Inspiration for strong families

The ‘Waldstadt Families’ support team, a digital advice and education service run by the City of Eberswalde, offers comprehensive and transparent support for families. Qualified educational professionals provide expert guidance to families and offer reliable support on all matters relating to parenting.

The programme addresses topics from everyday life at nursery and within the family. Articles on sleep, tantrums, media use and changing nurseries are just a selection of the content to come.

The “Waldstadtfamilien” programme includes monthly blog posts, digital parents’ evenings and educational resources for strong families, thereby providing a reliable point of contact for families in Eberswalde.

The idea originated from the neighbourhood nursery support programme run by the ‘Gestiefelter Kater’ nursery in the Brandenburgisches Viertel. Social education worker Aileen Schulze was looking for a way to address the concerns of individual parents more transparently and make this information available to a wider community of parents. This led to the creation of “Waldstadtfamilien – Inspiration for Strong Families”.

Further information and content will follow shortly.

The ‘Family Council’ method helps us to create time and space for one another amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It enables us to talk to one another, discuss matters and find compromises and solutions together. Children learn to communicate their needs. They see that parents, too, have needs and feelings. This method helps to foster a democratic mindset.
‘Seeing and being seen’ as well as ‘listening and being heard’ are the core elements of a childhood that instils democratic values in children from an early age.

Have fun giving it a go!
